brief: SHAPING A NEW
LANGUAGE LEARNING
GAME FOR KIDS 5-6
YEARS OLD
groupwork with
Astrid Sliwka
Pick a language friend and put him on the wall. He will tell you words, funny things and stories of his adventures. He knows two languages that he can speak to you in. This way you can learn languages in a delightful way. Monkey_Business is an interactive language learning game where kids can explore languages in a playful story setting. Using RFID technology the wall has areas that can be triggered. When placing the characters on the areas you can hear words, sentences and stories. There is also an option to record your own story if you want to leave something behind, . After a session you can test your new knowledge skills and get a sticker to physically show your new vocabulary. At home you can further explore on the web.
During the process we had the opportunity to work closely with a kindergarden. In the first meeting we discovered how exited the kids were about knowing other languages. We facilitated several brainstorms and workshops together with the kids and tried out early prototypes to get their response.
